Isla Contadora – home to whales in summer

Isla Contadora is located about 50 kilometers off the Pacific coast of Panama. It is easily reached by ferry from Panama City or by plane.

The island attracts both tourists and locals with its natural beauty, white beaches and crystal clear waters.

From July to October you can watch whales in the waters around the island. Mainly humpback whales come to this region to mate and give birth to their young. This natural spectacle attracts numerous tourists every year who want to see the majestic animals up close.

Small boats, so-called lanchas, with a captain can be rented so you can watch the whales up close. It is fascinating to experience these beautiful animals up close as they glide smoothly through the sea despite their size.
