travel insurance certificate

When choosing your travel agent, make sure that they issue you with a travel insurance certificate. This protects the price of your trip against the insolvency of the provider. Since July 1, 2018, travel providers based outside the EU are also required to do this.

It is also important to make sure that your trip is covered by EU package travel legislation. The travel agent is responsible for rebooking you safely and getting you home at their own expense in the event of irregularities such as flight delays, natural disasters or other travel disruptions. Many suppliers in destinations do not currently offer you this protection, but have been obliged to do so since the introduction of new EU travel law.

Many providers only act as travel agents. Here, too, it is important to check whether the providers you are referring to work in accordance with European travel law. Otherwise, you can hold the agent responsible for any irregularities.
